Geology Walks

​​

Every Monday at 2pm


These are 2 hour guided walks by Dr. Roger Higgs. Enjoy the geology along this sector of the glorious South West Coastal Path. Sand and mud layers were folded 300 million years ago, forming the Cornish Mountain Range before dinosaurs existed. 

 

Starting from the Bude Tourist Information Centre, they cost £15 for adults and £8 for children.

Pendeen Car Boot Sales

Every Sunday Afternoon

 

Bude holds a charity car boot sale every Sunday from 1:30pm in Pendeen field, between Bude and Stratton.

 

Bude and Stratton community benefitted from £10,867.03 in 2014, which was raised by different charities and organisations selling there.

 

Plus you can get a really good bargain!

Bude Farmers Market

Every Friday from Good Friday 

 

Featuring top notch locally-sourced food, drink, unique gifts, local Cornish crafts and stacks more, this is one of the best markets in the region and not to be missed.

Fishing and Sightseeing Trips

Throughout the Spring and Summer

 

Team Shed Charters carries 10 people in total. Skipper Dean will take you our for four hour or full day trips for fishing and sightseeing within a 20 mile radius of Bude. You could expect to catch mackerel, cod, ling, bream, pollock and many others!

 

The trips start at Summerleaze lock gates, only a 15 minute walk from Cerenety.

Lundy Island Day Trips

March through to October

 

Spend the day on the natural and historical National Trust island of Lundy. In the hubbub of the modern world, Lundy is a place apart, peaceful and unspoilt.

 

Boats sail most days, but places are limited so it's good to book in advance.

 

The ferry is about a 40 minute drive from Bude, or the tourist information Centre can provide you with transport. 

North Cornwall Ramblers

Throughout the year

 

North Cornwall Ramblers take guided walks through Bude, Poundstock, Boscastle, Tintagel and more. Walks are usually around 12 miles and the scenery is spectacular. 

 

There are many walks taking place this year within a 25 mile radius of Bude. Visit the Cornwall Ramblers webpage for more information on when and where walks take place.

Dennis Armstrong's Bristol Blue Five Plus Two

The Falcon's spring Jazz Weekend features this great Jazz band over the easter holidays. The Falcon Hotel hosts different Jazz bands every other Sunday evening.

The Kitchen Front Creative Workshops for All Ages

Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

 

These workshops allow you to design and create your own kitchenware. No experience is necessary and all equipment is provided.

 

Perfect for family groups, hen parties or just groups of friends. Everything is fired overnight so you can take home your own handmade kitchenware.

Bude Jive Club Events

9th April, 18th June and 20th August

 

Bude Jive Club combines two different dance styles, traditional rock & roll and jive. 

 

The club is known for it's friendly and social attitude. They throw events throughout the spring and summer, so why not pop along and give it a go.

Black Rock Surf Kayak Contest

16th and 17th April 2016

 

Black Rock Beach is just past Widemouth Bay and about a 45 minute walk along the South West Coastal Path from Cerenety. 

 

It's two days of surf kayaking competition, kicking off with the Shoreline Handicap on the Saturday and finishing with the Bude Canoe Club on the Sunday.

 

Whether you're taking part or simply watching from a sunny spot on the beach, it's a great event.

Poundstock Revel

Just a 10 minute drive or taxi ride away from Cerenety, the Poundstock Revel has many locally produced cakes, crafts and plants. There is also a range of activities and competitions in which anyone can participate. 

 

Sit and have a well earned cup of tea and slice of cake whilst gazing over the beautiful Valley to the sea.

The Bude Motor Classic 2016

Bude Motor Club will be holding it's 6th Classic Motor Show at the Rugby Club grounds in the centre of Bude, about 10 minutes walk from Cerenety.

 

With free admission, it's definitely worth a visit. 

Bude and Stratton Folk Festival

​​

27th to 30th May 2016

 

The festival is small, friendly and welcoming. It has a delightful mix of local and visiting artists, and there are lots of opportunities for visitors to participate in workshops, events, open mike sessions and simple sing-alongs. 

 

Events are held all over Bude, with a fun filled Music Hall concert on the Sunday evening, and many audience participation activities throughout the weekend.

Clovelly Events

Throughout the year

 

About a 1/2 hour drive or an hour bus ride from Bude is the beautiful and historic village of Clovelly. Complete with fisherman's cottages, an ancient harbour and their own donkeys, it's a place not to miss. 

 

Clovelly hold a range of fantastic events thought the year from Easter hunts, environmental lectures, seaweed festivals and regattas. With live music often playing at the Red Lion and a selection of Devon ales, there's no excuse not to, really.

The Royal Cornwall Show

9th to 11th of June 2016

 

About 45 minutes drive from Cerenety, The Royal Cornwall show is 3 days packed with energy, agriculture, entertainment, local foods and drinks, trade and above all else animals. 

 

First show cased in 1793, it is a fascinating glimpse into rural life. There's showjumping, cattle competitions and a range of headline acts in the main ring. Marquees full of goats, rare breeds, poultry, bees, rabbits. There's a dog show, a traditional steam fare, markets and stalls, a festival of dance, crafts, health and beauty. Leopallooza 2016

29th to the 31st of July

 

Leopallooza, a small festival for 4,000, happens at Week St Mary, near Bude, about 10 minutes drive from Cerenety. 

 

It's the number one independent festival in the South West, hosting the cream of new British music, as well as established artists from around the world. Nominated for several awards, it's the greatest house party......in a field! It's second stage is also entirely run on solar power.

 

It's centre piece is a car, loaded with wood, and set on fire. Have a look at their website for ticket info.

 

Bude for Food Festival

16th to 18th of September

 

This hugely successful festival will see it's third year running in 2016. With 50 artisan food and drink producers, famous chef demonstrations, comedy and live music, there is something for everyone.

 

There is free entry to the global street food area and only £1.50 to enter the marquee and chef demonstrations.

Bude Carvnival
 
20th of August 

 

The fun starts on the Castle grounds with entertainment, presentations and music all afternoon culminating in the float procession at 6.30pm where many local businesses are taking part in the fun. There is no theme this year so it’ll be interesting to see what everyone comes up with.

 

Bude queens and princesses will be crowned, dances performed, competitions judged and fun will be had.


There is still time to enter a float or take part.

Bude Jazz Festival 2016

30th August to the 2nd of September

 

The 29th Year of Jazz in Bude! Focusing on Traditional and New Orleans Jazz whilst holding on to the most popular of other styles from years gone past.

Stratton and Holsworthy Agricultural Show 2016

25th of August

 

A traditional agricultural show which is a great day out for all the family. About 20 minutes drive from Cerenety, there area also buses that will take you out there.

 

Dog shows, cattle competitions, food and drink tents, raffles and entertainment are the features of the day at this agricultural show.

 

Bude Lifeboat Day

​​

August 29th (bank holiday Monday)

 

A fun day for all the family with Bude lifeboat crew, rowing races, sand & culm races, coffees, cream teas, music and singing, treasure hunt, crab catching competition, helicopter demo, hog toast, ladies guild stalls, sea safety caravan, beach rescue, disco, live band, even Stormy Stan could be there! and of course finishing with a firework finale.
